Claude Integration in GeckoFlag adds an extension to the Claude desktop app so you can work in GeckoFlag by chatting with Claude. Ask in everyday words, such as “Show me the issues assigned to me that are due this week” or “Add today’s meeting notes to the wiki”, and Claude picks the right actions to search, view, create and update issues, projects, wiki pages and notes. You can also export Gantt charts to Excel.
How it differs from “Create with AI”
GeckoFlag already has an AI feature, “Create with AI”. “Create with AI” drafts input inside GeckoFlag’s screens, while Claude Integration lets you work in GeckoFlag from a conversation with Claude. The two are configured independently.
| Create with AI | Claude Integration | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you use it | GeckoFlag’s input screens | Conversations in the Claude desktop app |
| What it does | Drafts issues, comments, projects and wiki pages (people save them) | Searches, views, creates and updates issues, projects, wiki pages and notes, exports Gantt charts to Excel, and more |
| What you need | An Anthropic API key (registered by an administrator on the settings screen) | The Claude desktop app and an API token for each user |
| Cost | Pay-as-you-go based on API usage (paid to Anthropic) | No additional charge from GeckoFlag (a Claude plan is required) |
| Supported version | v1.9.0 or later | v1.11.0 or later |
What Claude Integration can do
Claude automatically chooses the right GeckoFlag actions based on the conversation. Creating and changing data is possible only when both the administrator and the user have allowed writing.
- Search and view issues — Search by project, status, assignee, reporter, priority, keyword, due date or parent issue, and read details and comments.
- Create and update issues — Create issues (including a parent issue and who to notify), change fields, post comments and change the status. You can also change the assignee, priority and dates together with a comment.
- Projects — View the list and details, create projects, change the name, description, owner and period, mark projects as completed or not completed, and add or remove members (always confirmed before removal).
- Wiki — Read a project’s wiki, rewrite its body or add to the end.
- Notes — List, search, view, create, rewrite and add to your own notes.
- Master settings (administrators) — Add issue types, statuses, priorities and job titles (departments), and change their names and colors.
- Export Gantt charts to Excel — Save a project’s issues to your computer as a Gantt chart in an Excel file.
- Refer to issues by key — Use issue keys such as “WEB-12”. In its replies, Claude shows the issue key together with the URL of the screen.
- Formatting preserved — Headings, bullet points, tables, links, bold text and other formatting in descriptions, comments, wiki pages and notes are kept when reading and writing.
- In your own language — Claude replies in the language you use.
Example requests
There are no special commands to learn. Ask in everyday words, and Claude chooses and runs the actions needed.
| What you want to do | Example request |
|---|---|
| Find issues | “Show me the issues assigned to me that are due this week” |
| Create an issue | “Create an issue called ‘Fix the contact form’ in the WEB project” |
| Record your work | “Comment on WEB-3 with what was done and set the status to Done” |
| Create a project | “Create a project with the key SAMPL and the name ‘Sample Project’” |
| Add a member | “Add Alex to SAMPL” |
| Keep it in the wiki | “Add today’s meeting notes to the SAMPL wiki” |
| Adjust settings | “Add a purple status called ‘Awaiting Review’” |
| Gantt chart | “Export the Gantt chart for the WEB project to Excel” |
| Summarize | “Write this week’s report for SAMPL” “Turn the action items in the wiki into issues” |
Export Gantt charts to Excel
Ask “Export the Gantt chart to Excel”, and Claude saves a project’s issues (up to 5,000) to your computer as a Gantt chart in an Excel file.
- Clear parent-child structure — Each issue gets one row, with child issues indented directly below their parent. The timeline is on the right.
- Handles long periods — You can specify the period and whether to show days or weeks. If the period is longer than 120 days, it automatically switches to one column per week (up to about 5 years).
- Adjustable in Excel — Change a start or end date and the bar moves with it (changes are not reflected in GeckoFlag).
- Issues without dates are shown too — Dates such as the created date are used instead, shown in gray italics with the reason.
- 15 languages — Headings and other text are written in the language set in the user’s GeckoFlag settings (Arabic uses a right-to-left sheet).
- Never overwrites — If a file with the same name exists, the new file is saved under a numbered name.
What you need
- GeckoFlag v1.11.0 or later — Claude Integration was added in v1.11.0. If you use an earlier version, update first.
- The Claude desktop app (Windows, macOS) — Add the GeckoFlag extension (a .mcpb file) to use it. The extension file is included in the download you get after purchasing GeckoFlag. Node.js, which the extension needs, is included in the app, so you do not need to install it separately.
- A Claude plan — There is no additional charge from GeckoFlag. Using Claude requires a Claude plan from Anthropic.
- GeckoFlag served over HTTPS — The extension needs HTTPS to connect to GeckoFlag.
Getting started
- An administrator enables the feature under “Settings → Claude Integration” in GeckoFlag and, if needed, allows writing.
- The administrator turns on “Allow Claude integration (API)” for each user who will use it.
- Each user creates an API token on their profile screen.
- The user installs the extension in the Claude desktop app and enters the GeckoFlag URL and the API token.
- Ask Claude to “Check that you can connect to GeckoFlag”, and you are ready to go.

Permissions and security
- Works only with three permissions in place — It can be used only when all three are in place: the administrator has enabled the feature, the user has been allowed to use it, and the user has an API token. When the feature is disabled, the API itself does not exist.
- Same permissions as on screen — Every action runs with the permissions of the API token’s owner. Anything you cannot see or do on GeckoFlag’s screens, Claude cannot do either. Projects and issues you have no access to are treated as if they do not exist.
- Two levels of permission for writing — Creating and changing data requires both “Allow writing” for the site and “Read and write” for the token. You can also use it read-only.
- Claude cannot delete — Projects, issues, comments, wiki pages, notes and other data cannot be deleted from Claude. If you ask Claude to delete something, it tells you to do so on GeckoFlag’s screens.
- Secure token handling — API tokens are unguessable random strings, and only their hashes are stored on the server. A token is shown only once, right after it is created, and its owner receives a notification email when it is created. Changing your password invalidates all of your tokens.
- Rate limits and access restrictions — Each token is limited to 60 requests per minute, and sources that keep sending invalid tokens are temporarily blocked. GeckoFlag’s IP address access restrictions also apply to the API.
- Confirm every write — If you set GeckoFlag’s write actions to “Ask every time” in Claude’s settings, Claude always asks for confirmation before running them (recommended).
How data is handled
- The extension runs on your computer — The extension communicates directly with your GeckoFlag only. It does not go through servers run by GeckoFlag’s developer or any third party.
- What Claude reads is sent to Anthropic — The issues, wiki pages, notes and other content Claude reads are sent to Anthropic (Claude) as part of the conversation. Claude is instructed to read notes only when the user asks.
- Written instructions are not followed — Claude is instructed to treat text in issues and elsewhere as “data” and not to follow any instructions written in it.
- Activity records — Actions from Claude are recorded as actions by the API token’s owner (they are not marked as “via Claude”).
- Check before you start — Before introducing the feature, check that your internal rules and client contracts do not restrict sending information to external services.
Limitations and notes on use
- Deleting (projects, issues, comments, master data, wiki pages, notes), editing comments, and attaching or viewing images and files are not possible.
- Adding or editing users, changing site settings, working with the Kanban board, bookmarks or notification settings, and viewing other people’s notes (not even administrators) are not possible.
- Writes are done one item at a time. If you ask for several issues at once, Claude handles them one by one.
- Changing the status or other fields with a comment leaves history and sends notification emails, just as on screen.
- The extension runs on your computer, so it works only on a computer where the Claude desktop app is running.
- AI responses can be wrong. Check anything created or changed on GeckoFlag’s screens as well.
